Με μαύρο εξώφυλλο το περιοδικό TIME!

Η πανδημία που αφορά στον ιό ο οποίος φέρει την ονομασία COVID-19 και έχει καταφέρει να σκορπίσει τον θάνατο σε πολλές χώρες στον κόσμο, ήταν η αφορμή για να κυκλοφορήσει το περιοδικό TIME με μαύρο εξώφυλλο.

Πάνω στο εξώφυλλο μπορεί να διακρίνει κανείς με λευκά γράμματα τους αριθμούς των θανάτων από τον Φεβρουάριο του 2020 και μέχρι στιγμής πλησιάζουν τους 200.00 στις ΗΠΑ.

Ο καλλιτέχνης John Mavroudis χρησιμοποίησε δεδομένα του Πανεπιστημίου Johns Hopkins και δημιούργηε το εξώφυλλο για το περιοδικό TIME και παράλληλα ανέφερε πως θέλει με αυτό το εξώφυλλο να αφυπνίσει τη συνείδηση τω ανθρώπων οι οποίοι στέκονται με απάθεια απέναντι στην πανδημία.

For this week’s U.S. cover, TIME turned to artist John Mavroudis, who—using data from the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center—handwrote the death counts in America on every one of the 193 days between Feb. 29, the first confirmation of a COVID-related death in the U.S., and Sept. 8, as it neared time to go to press. Out of that data, writes Edward Felsenthal, the Editor-in-Chief and CEO of TIME, the illustration reveals the coming grim milestone of 200,000. Creative Director D.W. Pine then placed the illustration within a black border—only the second time in our history we have done so, the first being after 9/11. “I really hope this cover is a wake-up call for those who are numbed to this catastrophe,” says Mavroudis. “Science and common sense are the answers to this crisis.” Read the full cover story, An American Failure, at the link in bio.
